Lesson Overview

The man-to-man press is a defensive strategy where each player defends against a specific opponent on the opposing team, making it difficult for them to advance and create scoring opportunities. Students will learn the 2-3-1 formation and how to use the man-to-man press from a range of playing positions.

Lifted balls in field hockey refer to when a player intentionally raises the ball off the ground using their stick to dribble past a defender. Students will learn to defend against lifted balls and to stop attackers from dribbling into the D to create scoring chances.
