Lesson Overview

In Hockey, the ball could arrive from any direction. Players therefore need to be able to receive the ball on both the forehand and backhand in order to quickly take control of the ball. Students will be introduced to the reverse stick receive before practicing their receiving skills on both the forehand and backhand.

Lifted balls in field hockey refer to when a player intentionally raises the ball off the ground using their stick to dribble past a defender. Students will learn to defend against lifted balls and to stop attackers from dribbling into the D to create scoring chances.
